Boom Boom Pow

188/365
9:35pm

After a miserably rainy day, the sky cleared to make way for the obligatory fireworks. As we impatiently waited in the saturated fields for Mount Prospect's show to begin, we actually also caught the tail end of Wheeling's display.

I could have posted the obvious Chrysanthemum, Brocade, Crackle, Rings, Peony shot, but I chose this one because the obvious shot is, well, obvious.

Pass a Tissue, Please

186/365
2:56pm

There are several of us moms who are sending their oldest child to Kindergarten in the fall. And the collective theme in the group this summer appears to be Where Did My Baby Go? Take this shot and these two lads. They have been in each other's presence since they were about eight weeks old. They are their best selves together, truly. So, it shouldn't surprise me that midpoint in a marathon playdate I hear....nothing. They had found a game, opened the directions, and were skillfully taking turns and complimenting each other's spins without a single parental prompt. Heart: Swell. Weepy goodness. Posted by Picasa

Cold Snap (Pun Intended!)

Today's high temperature was 61. Degrees. On July 1. There was a hunk of time this morning we were squarely in the 50s. In July. As Charlie finds himself amusing (who doesn't?), I'm hanging out in a sweater there in the background.

From Where They Stand

11:20am

The boys discovered this hollowed out tree stump just a dozen feet off a whirling, swirling park playground. While the sights and sounds buzzed in the background, the boys briefly transformed this space into a pedestal, and just as quickly abandoned it to head back toward the Merriment.

Miracle Grow

182/365
5:09pm

Regardless the age of your child, are you ever taken aback by a sudden growth spurt? You're all walking along the Life Path doing the whole Rinse, Lather, Repeat thing and your 6-weeker has surprisingly gained two pounds in ten minutes or your 2-year-old is a sleeping GIANT all spread out in his crib or your five-year-old starts driving the family car immediately became all Big Kid-like and not at all preschool-like anymore. His manners are Big, his attitude is Big, his interests are Big, his thoughts are Big, his activities are Big. And you're all proud and your heart swells at his Bigness and you wonder how in the world this happened because he was just a 6-weeker gaining two pounds in ten minutes; therefore, the only logical explanation is that he got into the fertilizer.
