I had this image pulled up on the laptop from a series I took at Lake Wingra. Charlie walks by, looks at the picture, and says, "Nice hot dog." We, ah....um....well, obviously need to get out in nature more frequently, or eat less summer food. However, turns out the kid was spot-on because another name for cattails is corn dog grass. Who knew? And the plant is nearly one hundred percent edible. By humans. Seriously. And the pollen, get this, is used to make fireworks. I know, I know, you're bowled over.
