Dear Saint Nick brought Jack this long-awaited Checkers game on December 6. Here it is, Christmas Day, a mere nineteen day later, and Charlie's dinosaurs are filling in for lost pieces already. Sigh. But he gets points for creativity.
The Wisconsin-Illinois weather thoroughly thwarted our travel plans, and it was necessary to stay put, cozy at home, for another day. We spent these extra hours playing countless Checkers, Uno, and Sorry games. Countless, I tell you! At one point late in the day, Jack exclaimed, "I'm still in my pajamas!" And my reply, "Isn't it wonderful!" If there's ever a list of days to spend in your pajamas, your childhood Christmases should be first and foremost.

I'm not sure when you posted this, but I will wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too. We were lucky to avoid Illinois on Christmas Day. We got home on the 28th, and really had no weather issues at all on the way home. Today however, is freezing! We are staying in and staying warm.

wow! to be snowed in and play board games all day is a dream of mine. where i live all we have is a day of slush and it's way too cold if you can see your breath and have to wear a jacket with fur inside, i've never seen nor touched real snow, so that is cool to hear your story.
ReplyDeletealso your pictures are great! i'm working on my photography skills, but they are not as near as good as yours... do you just do it as a hobby? anyway the one of the checkers and the dinosoars is by far my favorite... i love it! have a great new year!

The whole long-day-in-one's-pajamas is a great thing to be appreciated. The "effortless wardrobe" thing is Ok out here in the woods generally, but staying in the PJs has its own special charm.
