As the boys and I were leisurely strolling home from school, we encountered this wonderfully idyllic white picket fence, which is aptly located on Cross Street. I had my trusty Elph (seriously, how in the world does this thing still work?!) in my pocket and thought the shadows looked kinda cool enough to shoot. I changed it to b&w because of the contrast between shadow and snow. I think the shadows appear smooth and clean against the retreating snow, whereas I'm assuming they wouldn't be if they were cascading onto blades of grass. (Oh grass, oh how we miss you.) I think it would be worth going back (ah-hem, next winter) to see how the longer shadows printed in the snow appeared. The taller, measured shadows are telephone poles.
