Early Celebration
127/365
5:48pm
Jack celebrated his 5th birthday a couple days early at Pump It Up. Fourteen four- and five-year-olds bouncing their way silly...and possibly sick. I love how the kids eagerly aligned themselves along the bench, abandoning their empty juice boxes like bottles at bar time. Good times, man.
By the way, the chair: obnoxious!

Bubble Season
126/365
4:28pm
The entire brand new bubble juice bottle lasted ten whole minutes. Not the interest lasted ten minutes, the actual bottle lasted ten minutes. Did we have 1,000 bubbles? Not on your life.
Bubbles + sand + Jack (oh yes, he did!) + Charlie = THIS. For the love of Pete.
Peas & Thank You
125/365
8:38pm
We planted 2 basil plants, 3 Zinnias, 2 Sweet Pea flower pots, and for the hell of it, a couple pots of peas. About two weeks ago, Jack borrowed some soil and we sat on the front sidewalk and had a grand ol' time talking about the finer points of seeds, soil, water, roots, sun, etc.... We talk about how the flowers would grow and bloom and how we would be put basil in our tomato sauce this summer. There was no plan for the peas. Not because we don't like peas, on the contrary. More that we have limited space and the whole stick tepee brace seems to be more Master Gardener and less Don't-Know-What-I'm-Doing Gardener.
But, alas, we have 2 very weak Zinnias, zero Sweat Pea flowers, zero basil, and 2 hearty pots of peas. Guess it's time I learn how to grow these things because this looks pretty darn good.

POW! KA-BOOM! BLAM! WOW!
124/365
3:33pm
Fabulous birthday party!! Was it the silly string? Was it the bad guys? Was it punching balloons? Was it the incredibly special peanut-free cupcakes? Or was it so many superhero friends in one place at one time fighting crime for the greater good? We'll go with all of the above, but Jack insists the cupcakes were number one in his book! On that note, as the mom of a superhero whose Kryptonite is peanuts, I'm ever grateful for the superhuman attention that kept the celebration focused on the super strengths in attendance.
Happy Days

Birthday Greetings, our dear friend! It's amazing how fast five years passes when you're among such good friends.

Spring Distractions
122/365
5:14pm
Not sure who is more distracted as we headed to soccer practice: Jack or me. Jack sees a rabbit off on the left. I see the fresh & shiny lake, greenness popping out of leaf buds, the dandelion carpet, a near five-year-old confidently pursuing his own agenda.
