What Could Have Been

I so wanted to take the camera inside. However, considering Charlie was flaunting his youth and cuteness sitting up in that barber chair like a Big Boy, I figured that was enough spectacle for one family. He had every customer beat by a good seven decades. But, oh, the things I wanted to shoot in there! The chairs. The signs. The multitude of things in jars. Razors, scissors, combs, scattering the white and gold-flecked Formica counter. The back door propped open by an avocado green chair. The space beyond the door with its peeling red wall and an abandoned yellow kitchen chair sitting in a field of knee-high pale wispy weeds. [Heavy sigh.] All I got was this. And a perfectly Big Boy haircut.

Going all Dizzy

There could be a musical future in those cheeks, if it wasn't for the unadulterated ugliness coming out of that stupid penny whistle. Who the hell gave him that damn tin piece of junk that makes cats in heat sound like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on Easter Sunday?

Oh. I did. Carry on.

Meet my mercurial toddler. He laughs, he cries, he stomps, he frowns, he beams, he sympathizes, he screams, he chuckles, and he exudes them all with the passion and dedication of a talented Hollywood actor. And make no mistake: he can do them all in five minutes flat.
