Dome

66/365
9:07pm

After we had another amazing dinner at The Old Fashioned , we stepped out into this balmy, rolling fog atmosphere. The clouds eclipsed the moon for a moment, then revealed, the eclipsed, over and over again.

I didn't have the big Canon with us, so Elph to the rescue again. It was taken without flash and fill light in post-production--only to bring out the tree silhouettes.

Spin

65/365
2:46pm

It was a gorgeous day, and I can't explain why this is the best I was able to deliver. There's really not a whole lot to discuss. It's a poorly painted garage window sash with an abandoned spider web and absolutely filthy windows. But I seem particularly fond of the quarter-arc bike wheel in the dimly lit garage.

Shrinkitude

I'm enjoying the three discrete textures here, maybe four if you count the rings & bubbles in the vacating ice. I saturated the colors so the pebbles under the ice would be more visible. I realize this photo does not feel like Spring, and well, it's not. But we got a fleeting breath of hope this week, and the ice and snow have recoiled like a bucket of water on the Wicked Witch of the West.

Cross

12:00pm
As the boys and I were leisurely strolling home from school, we encountered this wonderfully idyllic white picket fence, which is aptly located on Cross Street. I had my trusty Elph (seriously, how in the world does this thing still work?!) in my pocket and thought the shadows looked kinda cool enough to shoot. I changed it to b&w because of the contrast between shadow and snow. I think the shadows appear smooth and clean against the retreating snow, whereas I'm assuming they wouldn't be if they were cascading onto blades of grass. (Oh grass, oh how we miss you.) I think it would be worth going back (ah-hem, next winter) to see how the longer shadows printed in the snow appeared. The taller, measured shadows are telephone poles.

Fee Fie Fo Fum

62/365
4:16pm

For all of Charlie's three glorious feet (ahh, as in height, not in having to buy an extra pair of shoes), this shot makes me realize how little he still is. I was sitting on the floor, but certainly not shooting upward (was going to just say 'up,' but that just felt wrong). Not seeing the top of the door makes me think he's entering the home of a giant, and you know he'd be that darn happy about it too! No fear.

I'm liking all the lines here, even if they don't necessarily appear perpendicular--in fact, maybe because they don't. I just pulled my camera off the tripod the other day, and I suppose I found it liberating to use it without its recent appendage.

Electron Proton Mixer, You're Invited

Just like a high school dance. Balloon becomes positively charged; Hair, negatively, and whaddya know, Hair will follow Balloon like a lost puppy. Life intimating Science. We'll stick to the Science part, and wait out another decade or so for that Life scenario.

Wagon

60/365
4:12pm

Within one week Charlie received a motorcycle, a Town & Country Radio Flyer wagon, and the 30th edition Cozy Coupe. Forget living space; our entire first floor has been converted to a temporary parking garage. C'mon, Spring! Luckily, the tenants are friendly, but they don't pay a dime. Go figure.

What I like about this photo is the movement, the saturated colors, the composition being a little funky representing a playful moment, and the sheer happiness. On the other hand, obviously, it's not sharp, Charlie has his eyes closed (Blinkers. Got a houseful of Blinkers.), and would be nice to get a bit more of the driver's arm in the shot. Happy Sunday.
